Welcome to The Speaker Port! Up for a sale is a replacement speaker terminal plate for the Kenwood KA-9100 vintage stereo integrated amplifier. This will allow you to replace the original speaker terminals with more modern banana plug terminals for both the A and B outputs. these new terminals allow for the use of individually terminated male banana plug tips or uniform spaced bracketed plugs for your speaker wires. It also allows for bare wire attachment (10-12 gauge max). This conversion plate improves the look and wiring options for your 9100. Once installed, it really looks spectacular and completely stock. You can re-purpose your original mounting hardware and can either solder the internal speaker wires directly to the back of the terminals or use ring tip terminals (highly recommended, but not included.) NOTE: Installation of this part does require certain skills and competency using tools and a soldering iron. If you are not comfortable doing this work yourself, take it to a electronics shop and they should be able to do the work for you. Installation Notes You will need some basic tools/materials, such as a Philips screw driver, wire cutters/strippers, soldering iron/solder. These items are NOT included.There is plenty of slack in the existing internal speaker wires to re-attach to the new plate, but still snip off the wires as close to the plate terminal as possible to make sure you don’t cut yourself short. Keep the orientation exactly as it was with the originals. (Take a picture of your existing wires for reference.) We highly recommending soldering on ring terminals to the ends of the wires and then using additional supplied hardware, attach them to the back of the new speaker terminal block. Note: Ring tip terminals are not included. If you choose to solder the wires directly to the end of the new terminal then please note the following warning. DO NOT overheat the back end terminals. Nothing more than a normal 40W soldering iron should be used and even so, make sure you are proficient in the right procedure for soldering wires onto terminals such as these. If the screw terminals gets too hot, it could melt the plate and/or bushings of the terminals causing the banana plugs to come loose.Disclaimer: The KA-9100, like any other vintage audio product, contains aged components and wiring. As a result, you need to take care while working on one. It is not uncommon for parts or wires to crack, snap, or break off while trying to manipulate them after 40+ years of age. Founded in 2016, The Speaker Port is a small, independently owned/operated business based in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. I started out in repairing/restoring vintage audio speakers and stereo systems but within the first year, took on both home and professional grade systems (PA systems, guitar amps, etc). I work on all components types (receivers, turntables, tape decks, power amps, etc.), makes and models. I hold a degree in Electrical Engineering but spent the better part of my 22 year professional career in Information Technology. Through it all was a deep love for music and music reproduction. Recently, I have established relationships with a number of music stores and studios servicing their own as well as 3rd party customer equipment. I now also offer my own line based on reproducing hard to find, vintage parts using 3D CAD design and printing technology. As we continue to growth, I look forward to being able to provide top shelf Customer services and well as products to go with it. Pricing If you have ever sold anything on eBay, you know that for everything you sell, eBay takes a very steep cut from you sale. EBay also takes money from the cost of shipping too. Annual costs associated with eBay’s make it even worse. On top of that, add on the percentage PayPal wants and as a result…you just lost 10-15% of you overall sale price. In order to sell products, you need to price competitively and fairly. In addition, we have families to feed so we cannot afford to lose money or break even. Please consider this when evaluating the price we set. Shipping All paid for items typically ship within 1 business day, however, we have a 3 day handling time in the event that an unforeseen issue comes up that prevents us from being able to ship immediately (such as weather related issues.) Any item we charge shipping costs for are fairly priced based. They take into consideration the materials necessary to secure/protect your item in transit. We use new boxes and packing when possible. The total cost of shipping must take into account our costs for these materials, the actual shipping cost charged by USPS or FedEx as well as the percentage eBay takes from us for shipping. We will never charge ridiculous, overprices shipping charges for any reason. As noted above, any listing we have that comes with ‘Free Shipping’ does not mean there is no cost associated with shipping the product. Most, if not all of our “Free Shipping” items are shipped USPS First Class (where we can predict the cost to any location domestically). On average, our cost to ship such items range from $3-$4. Please keep this in mind when evaluating the cost of our product to others. Unless otherwise specified in the listing, we do not insure any item in transit (beyond whatever the shipping provides as default…if any) nor do we add addition features such as signature requirement. If you want an item shipping with such additional features, it is your responsibility to ask for it and there will be additional costs associated with them. If an item offered to ship internationally, then it will be enabled in the listing via the eBay Global Shipping Program. Note: We do not have any control on what eBay GS charges for international shipping so please keep that in mind. eBay GS is a higher cost means of shipping but due to buyer fraud problems, we have had little choice but to go this route to eliminate claims of users not receiving items. Warranty and/or product guarantee Unless specifically statement in the list, there is no warranty or guarantee of any kid associated with the item you are buying. We have no way of knowing how much use it had before coming into our possession. Please consider this before buying. Any used/refurbished/restored item we sell is tested and verified to be in working condition before we list/sell the item. Any issues or problems will be clearly stated in the listing. This includes physical, electrical or operational condition. Regarding physical condition, we provide detailed pictures in our listing so please pay attention to them. We will not be describing every scratch/scuff/ding that may exist. For any NEW, 3rd party products that are still sealed in their original OEM packaging are assumed to be in perfect working condition. Fraud Prevention Unfortunately, there are folks out there that try to commit fraud/steal products from us. As a result, The Speaker Port had to make some tough choices about how we do business on eBay. Once such measure is using the eBay Global Shipping service for international purchases. This eliminates buyer claims that they never received an item. They get away with this because of the lack of end-to-end tracking with cheaper shipping services. The Speaker Port has also had to resort to photo documenting and UV tagging (marking) products in various ways to prevent ‘bait and switch’ situations or from buyers who ‘harvest’ internal parts for their own use and claiming that the item does not work.
