Apt Holman Preamplifier One COMPLETE Rebuild Kit High-Quality Preamp Recap Set 1
Up for sale here is this complete recap kit for the Apt Holman Preamplifier One. The old parts are weak and failing. We will make them new again! This kit includes replacements for all electrolytic caps in the Preamplifier One. There are 8 Nichicon PW caps, 27 Nichicon KL capacitors, and two Panasonic film caps, for a total of 37 capacitors. These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts, the same parts I use when I rebuild vintage gear. The original axial 22 uf caps are replaced with radial Nichicon KL caps, which are the best ones for those spots. I normally prefer to replace axial caps with new axials, but the Nichicon KL are just too good not to use. I will include instructions, but this is a moderately complicated rebuild, though it’s not too bad, and you should know what you’re doing and have a decent soldering iron and a dim-bulb tester with a 40W, 60W, or 100W incandescent bulb. The Apt Holman Preamplifier One frequently will have issues with transistors, so I would recommend picking up some KSA992s and KSC1845s here if you don’t already have them–the original 2N3904 and 2SC1345 transistors can be replaced with KSC1845 and the original 2N5087 and 2N3906 can be replaced with KSA992. I do not include these in the kit because replacing these transistors can sometimes change the sound, so it’s not always a good idea to replace all of them.
