Unit spins when lever is switch to play. I can’t get the lever to move to ff or rew.seems to be such where it is unless there’s a trick. The needles on the gauges how a mind of their own and either stay put or jump around.

AKAI 1730D SS STEREO QUAD REEL TO REEL DECK
This deck is in good condition. Picked it up at a thrift shop, and fired it up and it works like new! I cleaned the heads and the capstan and recorded some music and the playback sounds impressively clean. I’m convinced that magnetic tape is the king of analog recording! I did not test it in quadraphonic but stereo ins/outs work great! I’m sure quad works fine though, the unit is in great condition for its age. Comes with one tape. Scotch 150, 1/4 inch x 1800 ft. Some small cosmetic flaws as shown in the pictures. Sold as is, no returns.

Akai 1730D-SS Reel To Reel Part – Counter Belt. Used
We harvested these parts from an Akai 1730D-SSreel to reel that has been in our bone yard. We are a two person outfit in central maine with a combine 78 years of experience in component level repair.
