Up for sale here is this complete recap kit for a Teac A-2300, A-2300S, or A-3300S reel-to-reel tape deck. This includes replacements for all the electrolytic capacitors in the A-2300, A-2300S, or A-3300S, including the motor start capacitor, capstan motor capacitor, and 11 “spark killer” capacitors. The motor start capacitor and capstan motor capacitors are replaced with individual film caps, and the spark killer caps are replaced with new .1 uf + 120 ohm spark killer caps. There are four individual bags of parts, with the kits for boards 1, 2, and 3 separated, and the kits for boards 4-8 in one bag. These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts. The capacitors are 105° Panasonic FC, Nichicon PW, Wima film, Supertech axial electrolytic, Supertech MPT film, and one Kemet film. Capacitors are at the same uf ratings (except the motor and capstan caps) and the same or higher voltage ratings. These are the same parts I use when I rebuild vintage gear. The original motor start caps are one 3 uf 250v and one 1 uf 250v (suggested replacements in the manual are one 3.9 uf 250v and one 0.9 uf 250v) for the A-2300S and one 5.3 uf 250v and one 0.7 uf 250v for the A-3300S. The kit includes one 5 uf 700v Kemet film cap and one 1 uf 630v Supertech film cap, which should be fine for replacing either set. The original capstan motor caps are one 2 uf 250v and one .8 uf 250v, and the kit includes one 2.2 uf 630v and one 1 uf 630v to replace them. Obviously these reel-to-reels need a lot of mechanical work for a restoration, and lots of new rubber parts, and this kit does not include any of that, just the capacitors. Replacing the capacitors is fairly easy, and I will include a basic instruction sheet that explains how capacitors are replaced, but it is not a step-by-step guide, just a general one. These are pretty complicated pieces of equipment, so if you have not worked on vintage gear before, this is probably not what you want to start on. You should know what you’re doing and have a decent soldering iron and a dim-bulb tester with a 60W or 100W incandescent bulb. You will also need a few zip-ties or a clamp to install the motor start and capstan capacitors. Please see my pictures for details. US shipping and handling is $10, and international is $28.
