Up for sale here is this rebuild kit for a Pioneer SX-838. This includes all the parts you need to rebuild the Pioneer SX-838 power supply board, protection board, amplifier board, phono EQ board, mic board, tuner board, and preamp board, plus it includes upgraded replacement main capacitors and a new relay. This does not include lights, fuses, or output transistors. The correct replacement output transistors are two MJ21195G (replaces 2SA679) and two MJ21196G (replaces 2SC1079), available here. Please do not buy any of the Chinese output transistors listed on eBay–these are counterfeit and will damage your receiver. These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts. The main capacitors are Cornell-Dubilier 12000 uf 80v capacitors and one 1500 uf 100v Epcos cap, the other capacitors are 105° Panasonic FC, Nichicon VY, Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL, and Wima film caps at the same uf ratings and the same or higher voltage ratings, the transistors and diodes are the correct Fairchild/Onsemi subs for the original transistors, the relay is a new Omron relay, and the trimmers are new Bourns trimmers. These are extremely high-quality parts, the same ones I use when I rebuild Pioneer equipment. I will include surprisingly well-written instructions, but rebuilding a receiver is moderately complicated, and you should know what you’re doing and have a decent soldering iron, heat-sink compound, and a dim-bulb tester with a 60W or 100W incandescent bulb. These are extremely high-quality parts, and they are what I use when I rebuild Pioneer equipment. I just finished an SX-737 rebuild, which is why I put this kit together. This kit is the exact same stuff I use. The Wima film caps cost more than electrolytics, but they sound better and are definitely worth it.
