Nakamichi RX-202 Cassette Deck Ultimate Restoration Kit – Wima, OnSemi, Nichicon
While our kit replaces all electrolytic and tantalum capacitors in this Nakamichi deck, some Nakamichi’s have “orange cap disease” that this kit does not address. Nakamichi used a bad batch of polypropylene orange caps at one point. While a problem in the decks that used them, it is far from universal. If your deck has them, you may need to replace those as well. Again, this is NOT a problem with every Nakamichi deck or even every deck of a particular model. This kit restores and upgrades this deck. Wima Film Caps are used to replace all caps of 4.7uf or smaller. All other electrolytics are replaced with high quality Nichicon UKW or Panasonic FC caps. Superior to other kit suppliers (Wima film caps sound better, transistors replacing known problematic one’s) our kit will bring out the best in your deck! Pictures show the Mother board and power supply board replacement parts, parts for all other boards are included as well. Parts are bagged by board The kit replaces electrolytic and tant caps with high quality new ones sourced via reputable USA distributors like Digikey and Mouser. Most caps are Nichicon high quality UKL and UPW capacitors, we also sometimes use Panasonic FC caps for filtering in spots. All new caps will be the same capacitance as the originals with voltage ratings at least as high as the originals and oftentimes higher. Any capacitor of 4.7uf or lower is replaced with a high quality Wima film caps for better sound and reliability. Transistors are also sourced the same way and almost all are highly reliable on-semi devices. Not all (not even most) transistors get replaced, just those that time and collective knowledge have shown to be either noisy, unreliable or at the edge of their operating ability. The individual doing the work should be competent with a soldering gun, multimeter, reading a schematic etc. I am not a tech, but I have successfully done hundreds of restorations over the last 20 years. Many of the parts lists for these kits were compiled when we restored units, others are sourced from the service manuals (digital download included in purchase if you don’t know how to source it). We have compiled parts lists for well over 200 units for units from Marantz, Technics, Pioneer, Sansui, Harman Kardon, etc. We do not sell kits for tube gear currently. Sansui 8080 COMPLETE Rebuild Kit Recap Set 890 Transistors Relays Main Caps
Up for sale here is this complete rebuild kit for the Sansui 8080 (or 890). This includes all the parts you need to rebuild a Sansui 8080 or 890, and includes the correct size replacement main filter capacitor. This does not include the driver or output transistors. The correct replacement outputs are the OnSemi MJ21196G, which I have available here if you need them, though if your receiver is working you don’t need to replace the outputs. Each channel uses 4 outputs, and you should replace all 4 on the channel if you are replacing any. Please don’t buy any of the Chinese output transistors on eBay–those are counterfeit and will blow up. I also have a complete light kit available here. This kit includes replacements for all the electrolytic and tantalum capacitors in the receiver, including the two main filter capacitors, which are upgraded to new 10000 uf 80v Chemi-Con caps. The new caps are the same diameter as the old ones so they will fit the old clamps perfectly. The kit also includes replacements for almost all the transistors on all the boards, except the amp driver & bias transistors and the tuner board transistors. The kit for the power supply includes a replacement dual diode and includes two fuses and four fuseholder clips to perform the recommended service bulletin. There are replacements for all of the driver board fuse resistors, and there are also replacements for the fuse resistors on the other boards as well. There is a new relay for the protection board. You will also receive detailed instructions to help this rebuild go more smoothly. These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts. These are the same parts I use when I rebuild Sansui equipment. I have rebuilt quite a few 9090s (and 5050s, 6060s, 7070s, 9090DBs, etc) in the last few years. These are amazing receivers, and they deserve a high-quality rebuild. Capacitors are Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL, Nichicon EP bipolar, Panasonic FC, Wima film, Panasonic film, and Chemi-Con for the main filters. Transistors are Fairchild/Onsemi. The parts for each board are individually bagged for ease of installation, and the instructions will tell you how the transistors and diodes go in, but there are a LOT of parts to replace here, so if you do not have a lot of experience with vintage gear I would not recommend starting with this one. You should know what you’re doing and have a good soldering iron, a desoldering gun such as a Hakko FR-301, heat-sink compound, and a dim-bulb tester with 100W or 150W incandescent bulb.
