Fresh from an inspection from J+M Electronics of White Plains, N.Y. this is another of the legendary power amplifiers from the Hafler Co. I had this unit upgraded in 2016. I was delighted hear the results for the clean, clear sound they produce and emotional musicality, especially in the background vocals and lower midrange regions.

Hafler XL600 amplifier rebuild restoration Capacitor Kit repair rebuild
The scarcity of good, honest techs who can do good and reasonably priced restoration/rebuild of audio equipment inspired me to create this restoration kit. In today’s day and age, it is difficult to find a knowledgeable technician who can service your audio gear properly. I have seen many poor quality restorations of equipment that cost way too much for their owners. In 99% of the cases, only a few parts were replaced, instead of a full and proper restoration job.A proper restoration must replace all electrolytic capacitors on all boards. Do not fall for partial kits that restore just one PCB (power supply, power amp, etc.). This is not a good or proper way to restore your audio equipment. It is the same as with car tires; one should never replace just one tire and keep the other worn-out tires on. A proper rebuild requires a full recap of all PCBs.On the other hand, if one succeeds in finding a good tech, the wait time is usually 6-12 months for the unit to be serviced, and costs are sky-high. I have been servicing audio equipment for many years and have developed deep respect for all good equipment. Knowing how amazing and warm these units can sound, I decided to put together this kit. HAFLER DH-200 DH-220 SPEAKER PROTECTION KIT WITH TURN ON DELAY AS REQUESTED!!
RELAY PROTECTION FOR HAFLER 200 SERIES AMPS The Speaker Protection Circuit Board has two main functions: to protect the audio amplifier and the loudspeakers during start-up sequence when the amplifier might output DC voltage, and to protect the loudspeakers in the unlikely event of an amplifier power stage failure, where DC component would damage the speaker. The circuit is a simple discrete design incorporating 3 transistors, 3 diodes, and 1 Zener diode. Relay power is derived from the AC secondary across one AC Terminal of the Rectifier. This is required for quick relay disengagement when amp is shut down or power failure occurs. Approximately a 3-second Turn-On Delay is created by a simple RC circuit. DC Output Monitoring is accomplished using positive and negative low pass detectors triggering when DC is present in the amplifier output above +/- 1 volt for an optimized time constant. Left and right channel impedance is offset for circuit compatibility use with bridged amplification. Two separate 24-volt Relays in series (20-amp min. rated contacts) ensure two channel disengagement if one fails. The relay circuit also incorporates a resettable PTC fuse. Created to work with the Hafler 200 series amplifiers. Designed in the USA. 2 New 22000 uf 100v Capacitors Phase Linear 700 Hafler DH-500 Main Filter
Up for sale here is this set of 2 brand new Nippon Chemi-Con 22000 uf 100v capacitors. These are drop-in replacements for the Hafler DH-500, Phase Linear 700, Pioneer SX-1050, SX-1080, SX-1250, SX-1280, SX-5590, SPEC 2, and SPEC 4. They fit the old clamps perfectly! These are the same capacitors I use when I am rebuilding vintage Pioneer gear. These measure 63.5mm in diameter and 118mm tall, and use screw terminals. The screws are included. These are authentic Made in USA capacitors. Please note that the screws on these are thicker than the screws on the old main caps, so you may need to enlarge the terminals on the receiver in order to accommodate this. You can drill out the old ring terminals and center mounting piece with a 5mm drill bit if you want, or just replace the old ring terminals, or cut the ring terminals open to make them into spade terminals. Please see my pictures for details. The current batch of capacitors I am selling has 28W32L codes on them, and the boxes are dated 2234, so these were made the 34th week of 2022. A note about installation: Main filter capacitors are usually used to provide the positive and negative rails to the amplifier section, so one of them will appear to be wired backwards (with positive to chassis ground). This is normal. Before you replace your capacitors, take some clear pictures of the wiring so you will know how to connect the new ones. If your equipment starts blowing fuses after replacing the main filter capacitors, you probably wired one backwards. US shipping and handling is $12, and international is $36.
