These capacitors are direct replacements for part #066-106 in the McIntosh MC250, MC2505, and other models. They are designed to fit perfectly through the chassis without the need for drilling or modifications. These are the same capacitors I use for refurbishing vintage equipment. They measure 63.5mm (2.5″) in diameter and 79mm (3″) in height, and they feature screw terminals. Screws are included, though you might need to reuse the original screws depending on the thickness of your chassis.The original McIntosh capacitors were rated at 9300 uf 45v, while these are 15000 uf 100v. Despite the significant increase in capacitance, they are fully compatible with those amplifiers and will not cause any issues. While upgrading the original power supply diodes or bridge rectifier is recommended, it is not strictly necessary.Please note that these capacitors are slightly taller than the originals, which may affect the fit if your amplifier has a wooden case.These capacitors are genuine and made in the USA. 2 New McIntosh MC250 MC2120 MC2125 MC2505 Main Filter Capacitors 18000 uf 100v
Up for sale here is this set of 2 brand new Nippon Chemi-Con 18000 uf 100v capacitors. These are drop-in replacements for part #066-106 in the McIntosh MC250, MC2120, M2125, MC2505, and more. The terminals will fit perfectly through the chassis, with no need for drilling or other modifications. These are the same capacitors I use when I am rebuilding vintage gear. These measure 63.5mm (2.5″) in diameter and 80.6mm (3.175″) tall, and use screw terminals. The screws are included, but you may need to reuse the old screws depending on how thick your chassis is. The original McIntosh capacitors were 9300 uf 45v, and yes, these are 18000 uf 100v. They will still work fine in those amplifiers. Yes, it’s a big step up for capacitance, but they will still work fine and will not cause issues. It’s always a good idea to upgrade the original power supply diodes/bridge rectifier, but it’s not generally necessary. These are authentic Made in USA capacitors. The current batch of capacitors I am selling has 30C32L codes on them, and the boxes are dated 2340, so these were made the 40th week of 2023. A note about installation: Main filter capacitors are usually used to provide the positive and negative rails to the amplifier section, so one of them will appear to be wired backwards (with positive to chassis ground). This is normal. Before you replace your capacitors, take some clear pictures of the wiring so you will know how to connect the new ones. If your equipment starts blowing fuses after replacing the main filter capacitors, you probably wired one backwards. US shipping and handling is $12, and international is $28.
