New replacement aftermarket tweeter diaphragm. Fits most XLS CLS and CLSC tweeters including the Logic by Vifa variety used in some. Comes with instructions, and a fuse bulb to protect your new tweeter. If you’re reading this, you know that the tweeters in these series were a weak point, partially because of the relatively low crossover point of the XLS crossover, so my new replacement diaphragms come with a SK3 fuse bulb, the same kind used in pro audio speakers, with soldered connectors that fit your new diaphragm, and speaker wiring. Note, this listing is for a diaphragm to repair your tweeter, not the entire tweeter. These diaphragms fit the magnets with two or four centering bumps on the magnet. I just found out that some of the TW25E tweeters used in the CLS15 may have three centering bumps on the magnet. These diaphragms will NOT fit those tweeters if the three centering bumps on your magnets are in a triangular pattern with the three alignment pins equidistant from each other. As of 6-23 I see another seller has similar looking tweeter diaphragms listed for these tweeters now. They won’t fit. There are MANY diaphragms that all look similar, but they won’t fit the alignment pins on your tweeters and have incorrect size spade lugs. This will fit 99% of Cerwin 12″ woofers that use the common 2″ voice coil. If you have a woofer like the 121-4 which uses a 1.5″ voice coil, I have the spiders for that too. 15″ Refoam + spider Kit for Cerwin Vega 217r and many HED models, options
I can customize this kit if desired. As pictured, it is designed to repair the woofers on speakers like the 1st version 217R with the 153 woofer which had gray foam, tan gaskets, and plain dustcaps, and was mounted inside the cabinet. There was also a very different second version of the 217R which had one tweeter instead of two on the front. Most of the woofers in these old-but-gold speakers seem to be needing spiders, so this kit includes new spiders, and the tan gaskets they used on the “inside mount” woofers. This kit will fit most woofers that used the flat attach foams, however Cerwin made many design variations and part substitutions with their speakers, and Heppner (the company that built the woofers for cerwin vega) did the same. So, going by speaker model, and/or woofer model, isn’t always enough. The BEST way to verify parts and fitment, is to check with me, and I will probably ask for pictures. Some steel framed woofers used a taller spider. And a picture will let me know. If you prefer red (red over gray actually) foam, let me know and I’ll substitute it for you. If you prefer dustcaps with the logo, let me know and I’ll put those in instead. This kit comes with 3035 glue for the foams, black glue for the dustcaps, and epoxy for the spider. 15″ 4 Ohm Recone Kit for Cerwin Vega W15-P PD9 PD-9 Correct cone
Recone kit for the Cerwin Vega W15-p woofer used in the PD9 and probably others. These were developed specifically, exactly, for this woofer. Ribbed cone like the original and pleated accordion surrounds. Precision voice coils, on ALUMINUM formers like the originals. Several years, and more recones than I can count went into developing these to provide kits that not only take the pounding that I know you’re going to give them, but also match the t/s parameters of the originals. These kits are different from the other kits available in several ways. All the other kits I have seen, use the 5H2040 cones. Those cones were originally developed for the eh series woofers, which were very different. They used a smaller spider which sat down inside the typically used landing, so those 5h2040 cones at 3.825 deep, are too deep to sit properly when using the correct spider. Also, since those EH series woofers were used as a midbass in sound reinforcement tops, those cones are extremely thin and light. About 26 grams, which is half of the original W15-P cone weight. Plus the surround ribbing has much shallower ribs, limiting excursion. These new Brew City kits solve all those issues. A close look at the surround, and comparing these to the originals, and the other kits out there, will tell the story. Plus these are much stiffer, and weigh in at 52g. The only drawback to these, is that the ribbing doesn’t go down the cone quite as far, which could not be avoided. Most spec sheets specify a 3.75″ dustcap which is included, however I have seen some of these woofers that appeared original with a 4.5″ dustcap, so if you want the wider cap instead, just let me know and I’ll pack those for you. One note: The common coil listing and what was until recently thought to be correct specs for the voice coil for this woofer is is incorrect for the most part, possibly entirely. After tearing down dozens of these woofers and looking closely to what coils were actually originally in them, I have found that they are different from what most people list as the correct coil. The commonly listed coil has a unique and slightly longer winding width. But the coils I’ve removed from countless originals, are not that coil. So this kit includes the coil that I have found to be actually correct. It is possible, that some RE38 woofers did come with that longer wind coil. So, of you want the longer winding coil that everyone else has for this woofer, I do have them, and I’m happy to substitute those coils at no extra charge. You can also tear down your woofer before ordering, and measure the winding depth to see what coils yours originally had. Cerwin (and Heppner) made a lot of part substitutions and swaps over the years, and established parts listings are now known to be incorrect in many instances.
