HISTORY OF PHILIPS INCLUDING BRAZIL When the famous inventor Thomas Alva Edison in 1879 demonstrated his electric light bulb in Menlo Park, New York, it caught the attention of a Dutch student of mechanical engineering, then 21, called GERARD PHILIPS (1858-1942). The foundation of Philips & Co. was founded 12 years later (1891) in the city of Eindhoven (Netherlands) with an initial capital of 75,000 Guilders financed by his father, the banker Frederik Philips (1830-1900) and 10 employees, with the purpose of manufacturing carbon filaments for incandescent lamps and luminaries in a room of 18 x 20 feet. After one year of operation, he receives a package of bulbs from a major manufacturer of candles, its daily production rising to 500 lamps in 1895. It was a big production for a small country like the Netherlands. This time due to financial difficulties, he started thinking about acting outside the country, and for that, invites his younger brother Anton Philips (1874-1951) to participate in this challenge. The business thrives and before the turn of the century, is the largest PHILIPS lamp factory in the world. In 1912 the name PHILIPS & CO is changed to “NV Philips Gloeilampenfabrieken” (publicly traded company) and in 1914 it opened the famous physics laboratory (NATLAB), where many inventions, researches and discoveries are made. During the the first world war its products are marketed in America and France. In 1918 Philips begins producing radio TUBES or valves. A curious fact is that Philips just after starting the manufacture of valves, has launched a series of low power filament suitable for use in battery operated equipment, (very common back then) terming them “miniwatt”. Later, the term miniwatt tonou become synonymous with Philips valves. In the 1920’s, as part of a successful program of diversification in its activities, the Philips group is present in many countries, such as Spain, Poland, Norway, China, Sweden, Italy, Switzerland, Finland, Czechoslovakia, Brazil, England Denmark, Austria, Hungary, Germany and Australia, in addition to representative offices in New Zealand, Romania, Portugal, Algeria, Yugoslavia, Israel, Luxembourg, India, Greece, Turkey and Japan. All branches are supplied with materials manufactured by Matrix in Eindhoven, Holland. From that moment on, Philips goes to patent their innovations in the areas of radiography (RX) and receiving radio waves. PHILIPS also commonly in the early ’20s, began production of a number of components used in the construction of electronics such as battery charger, the rectifier, and components for transmission and reception. On July 28, 1924, it opened a branch in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, for the import and sale of products manufactured Philips in Eindhoven. In Brazil, Philips growth process was similar to what happened in America. As stated above, Philips was present with offices in Rio de Janeiro since 1924 and during World War II, mid 1941, trying to escape the conflict between Germany and other countries of Europe, a neutral state seeks to develop new technologies . With this, discovers the necessity of the Brazilian Armed Forces in having an electronics industry in the country. In the early 40s, the communication equipment of the Brazilian armed forces were obsolete. Prevented from renewing them because of world conditions WWII beyond the fact that most of these devices are manufactured by Telefunken (German) Thus, the Philips group establishing a partnership with the Cacique (The Cacique -. “Industry Paulista electricity “- was founded in 1933 by a group of pioneers dedicated to the manufacture of radios), thus appearing to INBELSA -” Brazilian Electricity Industry S / A. “- which played an important role in the development of telecommunications in Brazil in the 50s and 60 manufacturing and other items, transceivers OC. Similarly this happens with IBRAPE (Brazilian Industry of Electronic Products) and Philips in Brazil. • Philips 212 Recap Kit Capacitors Turntable Repair Set for GA212

Up for sale here is this recap kit for the Philips 212 turntable, aka the GA212. The old capacitors start getting leaky or short out, resulting in speed issues. This will take care of most of the circuit-board-related issues you will see with these turntables. Leaky capacitors can damage other parts, so even if your turntable is working, you should still recap it. This kit includes replacements for the two electrolytic capacitors (C730/C734) and the three large film caps (C726/C727/C733). These are extremely high-quality parts, the same ones I use when I work on vintage stereo gear. New capacitors are Supertech axial caps and Panasonic film caps. The old .82 uf cap is replaced with a new 1 uf cap, which shouldn’t affect anything, though you can always leave the old cap in if you want. I will include fairly basic instructions, but the Philips 212 can be somewhat difficult to work on, so you should know what you’re doing and have a decent soldering iron. The Philips 212 can suffer from various hum issues and problems with the speed controls, but this kit will not fix that. Please see my pictures for details. US shipping and handling is $5, and international is $18, no matter what quantity you buy. All my small parts are set up for combined shipping, so just use the “add to cart” feature and then check out all at once, and it will combine shipping. If you have any questions, please ask. Looking for more parts? I have power switches, feet, pushbuttons, top case screws, bottom screws, faceplate screws, white LED fuse lamps, blue LED fuse lamps, 6.3v bi-pin bulbs, 8v bi-pin bulbs, 12v bi-pin bulbs, wired 8v 60ma bulbs, new power cords, new main capacitors for the Marantz 1060/2230, wired Pioneer speaker plug replacements, new 630v yellow film capacitors at 38 different values, new 1200v yellow film capacitors at 15 values, a large variety of transistors for vintage stereo repair, new Wima film capacitors for stereo repair, new 250v yellow film crossover capacitors, and more. Just use “add to cart” on everything you want and then check out for combined shipping.

  • Technics SL-D1 SL-D2 SL-D3 K Speed Repair Kit Capacitors Turntable Recap Set

Up for sale here is this complete recap kit for the Technics SL-D1, SL-D2, SL-D3, and SL-D3K turntable. This is all the capacitors you need to recap the main circuit board in the SL-D1, SL-D2, SL-D3, and SL-D3K. The old capacitors start getting leaky and the transistors go bad, resulting in speed issues. This will take care of most of the circuit-board-related issues you will see with these turntables, except if you have a bad AN630U chip. One major problem with these turntables is that the AN630U IC chip can go bad, which will result in speed issues as well. Unfortunately there is no modern replacement for this chip, so if you recap your board and the speed is still acting up then you may need to find a used chip, which is fairly difficult, though it was used in a lot of Technics turntables. Leaky capacitors can damage this chip, so even if your turntable is working, you should still recap it. This kit includes replacements for all electrolytic capacitors on the boards. These are extremely high-quality parts, the same ones I use when I work on vintage stereo gear. Capacitors are Nichicon PW, Panasonic FC, and Wima film caps. The 470 uf axial cap is replaced with a new radial capacitor, which fits perfectly. I will include surprisingly well-written instructions, but this is moderately complicated, and you should know what you’re doing and have a decent soldering iron.
