Sherwood S5000 II restoration recap repair service rebuild kit capacitor
The scarcity of good, honest techs who can do good and reasonably priced restoration/rebuild of audio equipment inspired me to create this restoration kit. In today’s day and age, it is difficult to find a knowledgeable technician who can service your audio gear properly. I have seen many poor quality restorations of equipment that cost way too much for their owners. In 99% of the cases, only a few parts were replaced, instead of a full and proper restoration job.A proper restoration must replace all electrolytic, paper, film, oil capacitors. Do not fall for partial kits. This is not a good or proper way to restore your audio equipment. It is the same as with car tires; one should never replace just one tire and keep the other worn-out tires on. A proper rebuild requires a full recap of all PCBs.On the other hand, if one succeeds in finding a good tech, the wait time is usually 6-12 months for the unit to be serviced, and costs are sky-high. I have been servicing audio equipment for many years and have developed deep respect for all good equipment. Knowing how amazing and warm these units can sound, I decided to put together this kit. It includes very good upgrades and improvements that must be done to the unit. This restoration kit will make a huge difference in the sound quality. All the parts are of high-quality Japanese Nichicon / Rubycon / IC / United Chemi capacitors.I am extremely particular about the quality of the parts provided in this kit. Knowing how many bogus/fake caps, diodes, resistors, etc. are out there, I source all the parts from reputable wholesalers and buy them in bulk. Vintage audio equipment has the potential to deliver rich and authentic sound when it is properly restored. Not only can it enhance your listening experience, but it can also evoke memories and bring joy to your life. Let’s work together to bring your vintage gear back to its full potential, and make sure you have the music you deserve. ♩♬♫♪♫♩♬ “They Shall Have Music”- Avery FisherIncluded in this kit: 1. Power/Filter stage capacitors (Nichicon / Panasonic / United Chemi) electrolytic capacitors. Note, the image with silver multicap cans shown restaffed with new caps is for illustration purpose only. 2. Sherwood S7100a Volume pot control power switch on/off for
I also have many other controls available. See the ———–> LINK II have been servicing vintage audio equipment for a while now, and I understand the struggle of finding good volume controls for these units. After years of searching, I decided to take matters into my own hands and re-manufacture volume controls that were used in the golden era of audio equipment. My goal was to produce a high-quality part that is better than the original volume pot, and I am proud to say that I have succeeded. Here are some reasons why you should consider buying our modern production pot instead of fixing the original:Unmatched potentiometer: After 60 years, most vintage volume controls have deteriorated carbon resistance paths that need to be matched and balanced for even sound distribution. If a volume pot is unbalanced, one speaker will sound louder than the other. Our modern production potentiometer has been designed to address this issue, ensuring well-balanced sound.Flawed vintage design: Even if you fix an old control, the result will be short-lived due to significant flaws in the design itself. Our modern production potentiometer has been designed to address these issues, ensuring longevity and consistent performance. As someone who has been restoring vintage audio equipment for years, I can confidently say that these are high-quality factory-made potentiometers that deliver only positive results and well-balanced sound. If you have any questions or would like to purchase a modern production potentiometer for your unit, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Let’s make your gear sing again! Sherwood S-7100A Complete Rebuild Kit High-Quality Receiver Recap Transistors
Up for sale here is this rebuild kit for the S-7100A. This includes all the parts you need to rebuild the Sherwood S-7100A amp/power supply board, preamp/tone board, phono EQ board, and tuner board, as well as drop-in replacements for the three chassis-mount capacitors. This does not include output transistors, lights, or fuses. If you need new output transistors, the correct replacements are TIP41C and are available here. The old transistor design is not made any more, but the TIP41Cs will work great. This kit includes the following: Amp/Power Supply board: 13 capacitors (Panasonic FC, Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL)10 transistors (Fairchild/Onsemi)2 diodes Preamp/tone control board:4 capacitors (Nichicon KL)2 transistors (Onsemi) Phono EQ board: 12 capacitors (Nichicon PW, Nichicon KL, Wima film) 4 transistors (Onsemi) Tuner board: 17 capacitors (Nichicon PW, Panasonic FC, Wima film) Instructions These are extremely high-quality genuine parts, and they are what I use when I rebuild vintage gear. The transistors are the correct subs for the originals, and the capacitors are the same capacitance (uf) and the same or higher voltage. The two top chassis-mount capacitors are upgraded to 2200 uf 63v Nichicon Gold Tune caps that will fit the clamp nicely. The underside chassis-mount capacitor is upgraded to a 3300 uf 100v Epcos cap that fits the clamp. I will include surprisingly well-written instructions, but rebuilding a receiver is moderately complicated, and you should know what you’re doing and have a decent soldering iron and a dim-bulb tester with a 40W, 60W, or 100W incandescent bulb. This kit may not fix your Sherwood, but it’s pretty likely that it will, and it will definitely help it run better. If you have a background crackle or hum, this will probably take care of it. Please see my pictures for details. US shipping and handling is $10, and international is $28. If you have any questions, please ask. Looking for more parts? I have power switches, feet, pushbuttons, top case screws, bottom screws, faceplate screws, white LED fuse lamps, blue LED fuse lamps, 6.3v bi-pin bulbs, 8v bi-pin bulbs, 12v bi-pin bulbs, wired 8v 60ma bulbs, new power cords, new main capacitors for the Marantz 1060/2230, wired Pioneer speaker plug replacements, new 630v yellow film capacitors at 13 different values, a large variety of transistors for vintage stereo repair, and more. Sherwood S7200 Loudness Volume pot control power switch on/off replacement
NOTE we also offer FULL restoration kit —–> LINKOr search for item (eBay item number:165635763753) As an experienced vintage audio equipment service provider, I understand the challenges of finding reliable volume controls for these units. Locating a New Old Stock (NOS) potentiometer may seem like a solution, but it’s important to note that even if one succeeds in finding it, it may not be a wise choice to use it. Over time, the carbon path within the potentiometer deteriorates, meaning that even a NOS potentiometer could be in very poor condition after just a few uses. Recognizing this issue, I took it upon myself to tackle the problem. After years of searching, I decided to manufacture volume controls that were commonly used during the golden era of audio equipment. My objective was to create a high-quality replacement part that surpasses the original volume pot, and I’m proud to say that I have achieved that goal. Here are a few reasons why it’s advisable to consider purchasing our modern production potentiometer instead of attempting to repair the original: – Unmatched Potentiometer: Vintage volume controls, after 20-25 years, often suffer from carbon resistance path deterioration. These paths need to be carefully matched and balanced to ensure even sound distribution. If a volume pot is unbalanced, one speaker will sound louder than the other. Our modern production potentiometer has been meticulously designed to address this issue, guaranteeing well-balanced sound reproduction. On/off switch Flaws: Many of the original switches used in vintage units were notorious for their unreliability. Over time, more than 75% of these switches have failed, and the remaining 25% are at risk of failure. This poses potential hazards, such as receivers turning themselves on when the power switch is in the off position, which could lead to fire hazards if left unattended. – Flawed Design: Even if you manage to repair an old control, the outcome will likely be short-lived due to significant flaws in the original design itself. Our modern production potentiometer, on the other hand, has been engineered to overcome these shortcomings, ensuring both durability and consistent performance. On/Off switch specs: On/Off Switch: It can sustain up to 6A current, ensuring safe and reliable operation.Voltage: The switch supports a wide range of voltage, from 110V to 240V, making it universally compatible. As an individual with extensive experience in restoring vintage audio equipment, I can confidently assert that our modern production potentiometers are of the highest quality. They deliver exceptional results and provide well-balanced sound reproduction. If you have any inquiries or would like to purchase one of our modern production potentiometers for your unit, please feel free to contact me. Together, let’s revive the melodious capabilities of your cherished gear FULL restoration kit —–> LINK We also offer a great selection of Restoration Kits, LED conversion kits, Volume Controls, Rotary Switches and other rare/unique parts;Make sure to check our store ———> LINK (Use the search bar inside the shop to find what you need faster)We may also be interested in purchasing your equipment
