Sony STR-6055 rebuild restoration recap service kit repair filter capacitor
The scarcity of good, honest techs who can do good and reasonably priced restoration/rebuild of audio equipment inspired me to create this restoration kit. In today’s day and age, it is difficult to find a knowledgeable technician who can service your audio gear properly. I have seen many poor quality restorations of equipment that cost way too much for their owners. In 99% of the cases, only a few parts were replaced, instead of a full and proper restoration job.A proper restoration must replace all electrolytic capacitors on all boards. Do not fall for partial kits that restore just one PCB (power supply, power amp, etc.). This is not a good or proper way to restore your audio equipment. It is the same as with car tires; one should never replace just one tire and keep the other worn-out tires on. A proper rebuild requires a full recap of all PCBs.On the other hand, if one succeeds in finding a good tech, the wait time is usually 6-12 months for the unit to be serviced, and costs are sky-high. I have been servicing audio equipment for many years and have developed deep respect for all good equipment. Knowing how amazing and warm these units can sound, I decided to put together this kit. It includes very good upgrades and improvements that must be done to the unit. This restoration kit will make a huge difference in the sound quality. Sony STR-7065 Power Supply / Amp Board Recap Kit Capacitor Upgrade Rebuild Set
Up for sale here is this power supply/amplifier board rebuild set for a Sony STR-7065. This is for the power amplifier/power supply board, the vertical one on the left with all the wires attached to it. This is all the parts you need to rebuild this board completely. Often the old parts are weak and failing. We will make them new again! This kit includes the following: 13 capacitors (Nichicon PW)19 transistors (Fairchild/Onsemi)13 diodes (2 zener to replace the 1T243s)2 double diodes (to replace the VD-1221 varistors)1 new heat-sink (for the TIP41C) 1 small piece of plastic sleeve (for the TIP41C) These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts. The capacitors are Nichicon PW caps at the correct uf ratings and the same or higher voltage ratings and the transistors are the correct Fairchild/OnSemi subs for the original transistors. These are extremely high-quality parts, and they are what I use when I rebuild vintage gear. I will include a surprisingly well-written 4-page instruction sheet, but this is a fairly complicated job, and you should know what you’re doing and have a decent soldering iron. You will also need heat-sink compound for the heat-sinked transistor. This kit may not fix your STR-7065 if it has other issues, but it will definitely help it run better, and should fix almost any issues with this board. If your receiver is blowing fuses, you will probably need new output transistors (available here) and probably new 2.5A 250v fuses as well, and might need some resistors too (not included, but easy to find online). TAD EL84 STR REDBASE PREMIUM – MATCHED PAIR
Price is for a Matched Pair. The all new TAD-EL84-STR REDBASE brings together the best of both worlds – the famous EL84-Cz and the EL84M. We opted for the thickest glass possible and the heaviest construction available, just like the Russian EL84M. We combined these features with the most sonically promising cathode plate options in order to meet and exceed the tonal quality of the EL84-Cz, especially with regard to its linearity over the entire frequency range. Finally, we added gold grid wire in order to improve overall reliability. The sound can be described as very harmonic in the mids and treble frequencies, without adding too much power to the bass. The result is the best EL84 in current production. NOTE: Due to its diameter of 22.5mm, the TAD EL84-STR does not fit into older Marshall DSL401 made till week #20 in 2014 and UK made VOX AC15 TBX amplifiers of the same time range. The tube which did fit these amps is the Ei EL84 or certain NOS models. All new productions of EL84 do use the 22.5mm standard. Later versions of these amplifiers have been updated to accept 22.5mm diameter tubes with no problem. 2 New 6800 uf 100v Kemet Main Filter Capacitors for Sony STR-7065
Up for sale here is this set of 2 brand new Chemi-Con 6800 uf 100v capacitors. These will work great in the Sony STR-7065, and the Marantz Model 14, 15, 16, 16B, 30, and 32. They fit the old clamps perfectly! Some of the Marantz amps used 5000 uf or 5450 uf caps, but Marantz recommended upgrading to 6800 or 6900 uf caps, so these are great replacements. The Marantz 15 uses four of these, so just set the quantity to 2 if you want 4 caps. The body of each capacitor measures 36mm in diameter and 82mm tall. These are 85°C 11000 hour capacitors, which means they can handle up to 85°C, or 185° Fahrenheit, and they will last at that temperature for at least 11000 hours. These will obviously never see that much heat, so they will be good for the next 40-50 years at least. These use screw terminals, and the screws are included. These are authentic Kemet capacitors, manufactured in early 2024. A note about installation: Main filter capacitors are usually used to provide the positive and negative rails to the amplifier section, so one of them will appear to be wired backwards (with positive to chassis ground). This is normal. Before you replace your capacitors, take some clear pictures of the wiring so you will know how to connect the new ones. If your equipment starts blowing fuses after replacing the main filter capacitors, you probably wired one backwards. US shipping and handling is $6, and international is $28.
